Gubra
I personally prefer Sepet more. But then again, Gubra is a beautiful film by itself too. This time, Jason’s parents finally decided not to fight anymore. Actually, I wanted to laugh when I heard that Jason’s mom was the one that push his father down the stairs. But then again, it would be very cruel of me to laugh, right? The lovely part was when Orkid’s parents, both were lying in Orkid’s father’s hospital bed, dancing. The other scene that I remember was when Orkid found out that her husband was cheating on her with another women, she got so angry when she left, she held Jason’s brother Allan’s hand and walk off. I still find Jason better looking than his brother, but he does not have Allan's nice body :p
(Ring...Ring...)
Allan: Hello, Orkid?
Allan’s mom: Ah Mah la…
So, coming back to the tagline of the movie, “Why do we hurt the most, the ones we love the most?” Sepet 2 shows how people are hurt by the ones that they trust and love the most. Does being hurt gives us the rights to hurt the other person back? Think about it. Think about the time when Orkid said to her husband; "I promise I’ll stay. You promise Abah(father) that you will never hurt me. Jason promise me that he’ll never leave me."
As for me, “love” is never that simple, although in my whole life, all I’ve ever asked for is a simple love, simple concern, caring, and yes… love. Love can be so beautiful and wonderful when it is shown the right way. I know I am capable of loving the person that means a lot to me. I want to be so much more than just another “girl” by a guy’s side. I want to give the best I could give today because tomorrow might not come. I want so much to be that girl in my guy’s life that did touch his heart in a special way and no matter what happens in the future, knowing the fact that we might still be together or not, I will have a place in his heart. I don’t want to be someone that he will just have to eventually forget, to move on with his life. Sometimes, I do felt that there is so much more that I would like to give, so much more… but then again, giving all your love to someone does not mean that we well receive love back. The best things that can be done in situations like this are just to be contented that love did grew in my heart. The love that I had always wanted had never really turned out the way I wanted it to be. And at times, I just felt as though it’s just best not to hope for anything, because I know how it feels like, to have a lot of things around me and yet still felt that I have nothing at all. Complicated? Yes, I told you love was not simple.
"And all that I've ever did was love you. You just don't know how much you meant to me."
Ironically, love never really consist of only the intimacy and the affectionate the two person share, the environment and people around the two people usually have a bigger affect on the couple’s love.

400 Blows
I like the ending part the most, when the he was running to the sea, he runs runs and runs and the when he reach the sea, he finally realize that he had reach the place where he had always wanted to go but he did not know what to do next since he had reach the sea. The camera shoots the scene in a very good position, which is where shots were taken far from Antoine when he was running. At the end of the movie, Antoine looks straight into the camera and that let the viewer see the expression of his face clearly. When the movie ended, I was a bit taken back because I was expecting that he would do something but no, the movie ended there. The ending part made the viewer wonder what “What happen next?”, “So what now, since he had reach the place that he wanted to go all along?” and a lot of question marks were raised when the movie ended. The ending leaves the viewer to think and ponder what about what Antoine had been through in his life so far and feel for him.
I did enjoy this movie although I had to read the subtitles which was really not what I like to do.
Rashomon and YoJimBo
The visual effect of the movie which is the elements of the world like I have said above does play a big part in this movie. The director began the movie by showing the viewer the hut and it was raining heavily at that time. The rain symbolizes the blurriness on the situation and the uncertainties of life.
There is still one thing that I do not like about the movie, which is when the woman in the movie will suddenly cry and yell and do silly stuffs. I got irritated by that disturbing fact that the woman was either out of her mind or just plainly provoking the two men to fight over her. The close ups done in the movie was done quite good as the viewer could see the exaggerations of the expression of each character’s face.
YoJimBo, another drama action crime movie directed by the same director was equally as good as Rashomon. The movie started by showing Sanjuro Kuwabatake (Toshiro Mifune), the Samurai’s back. The viewer was not able to see his face until a few minutes after the movie started. I find that part interesting because it is a bit different from the way the rest of characters from other movies were introduced into the movie. I do find a few characters movements and expressions a little too exaggerated and I did not really like it.
JFK
This drama history mystery suspenseful movie, directed by Oliver Stone was a bit too long for my eyes to be kept wide open. Having to see a three and a half hour movie does to a certain extend makes my mind wonder off a bit. I find the movie a bit dreggy too. But overall, I guess I still have to submit by saying that this movie is worth watching. Stone not only did smartly choose the right actor for each character, the cinematography and the editing of the movie was done well. The movie starred Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Bacon, Gary Oldman and others were good at acting their characters out especially Kevin Costner. He acted as though he was really Garrison trying his best to find the missing pieces of the assassination. He indeed is a good actor.
The whole movie clearly shows the curiosity and impact the assassination had on the nation. Everyone wanted to know what really happened. It had been a few decades since JFK died and still no one clearly knows who killed him and for what reason. Yes, there may be many explanations as to why he was killed but until today, people are still finding out the truth. Curiosity kills the cat; I do hope no one gets killed trying to find out the truth behind JFK’s assassination after their curiosity was provoked by the movie.
Heat
Brazil
There were parts in the movie which until now, I do not understand. One of them was the scene where Archibald 'Harry' Tuttle (Robert De Niro) came in to the picture. I did not understand the part where Tuttle came and fix Sam’s air con that broke down. There was also another part where Tuttle shit into people’s suit when the people were in the room. The cold humor in that particular scene did in a way made me laugh, but only after seconds after the scene toke place.
The gadgets that were shown in the movie was the interesting part. I fancy the televisions that were used in the movie. It looked like an on old television but in the same time, it looks like a technology from the future. The computers used in the movies were also uniquely funny yet very high tech. there were parts in the movie where the positioning of the camera played a big part and one of which was the scene where the camera moved from Sam’s face that was facing the computer, to the back of the computer and made the computer looked like a magnifying glass.
The part where Sam was dreaming was the real confusing and really stupid part. But I maybe it is there for a reason that is to show how Sam’s life is in such a boring routine and actually all he wanted is to be with his dream girl. In his dreams, he just wanted to save the girl and be with her but there were so many enemies and evil that tries to stop him from getting to his dream girl. In the end of the movie, he was so caught up with his dreams he could not focus on the reality anymore and became insane. This thing will happen if we do not control our fantasies and dreams and let them overpower the reality part of our lives.
The Insider.
The director did a good job at portraying the characters. His chronological way of introducing the two main characters were effective too. The viewer gets to see their style of working; how they approach problems and they way they handle situations even in the beginning of the movie. The positioning of the camera, the close ups that were shot up to the cinematography that was done in the movie was well done as it makes the viewer feel what was going on in the particular moment rather than juts watching it. The scenes where Bergman and Wigand exchange faxes was taken were good shots. There were also a part where I find it funny, which is when Ron Motley (Bruce McGill) was talking to the tobacco lawyer about having the rights not to talk about the exposure of Brown and Williamson Co. Motley’s reply to him was “Boy, you got rights... and lefts. Ups and downs and middles. So what?...” that part really made me laugh and that particular scene was actually stuck to my head even after the movie.
In conclusion about the movie, it is just about two men driven to tell the truth... whatever the cost is.
The Haunting
The Poseidon Adventure
Singing in the Rain
Memento
In this movie a “femme fertile” was introduced too. A “femme fertile” is a female character in the movie that uses her sexuality to seduce the men. In this movie, it is seen that Natalie (Carrie-Anne Moss) uses Leonard to get her out of her drug dealing mess she was in by manipulating him to kill Dodd. After seeing that he got rid of Dodd, she helped him to find “John G”. She even dared saying “You sad, sad freak. I can say whatever the fuck I want, and you won't remember. We'll still be best friends. Or maybe even lovers.” In the beginning of the movie when she was introduced, she was known to be a good person, but after some time, as the story unfolds, she turn out to be just another character that used Leonard for her own benefits, just like what Teddy did.
LA Confidential
The movie was shown as though from three different sides of a story yet it comes back to the same path at the end. The actors and actresses chosen for the movie were suitable for their character. The cast consist of Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Kevin Spacey and Kim Basinger did a great job acting their parts.
Citizen Kane
At the beginning of the movie, the shot of the “No Trespassing” sign first reminded me of one of Mr. Patrick’s movie, Exit. In my opinion, it’s a good way of starting and ending this movie. This movie began by showing Kane’s big mansion, named “Xanadu”. The beauty of the beginning of the movie was that when the mansion was shot at every angle, be in front or at the reflection of the water, the window of Kane’s bedroom in particular was in all the shots of different angel of the house. At first, I did not realize anything extraordinary about all the shots of the house, but it suddenly hit me that all the shots have the bright yellow light coming out of the window in it. It made me think it was a horror film at first but I was later convinced by the movie and Mr. Patrick’s explanation that “Kane propose a fictionalized biography of media magnate William Randolph Hearst.” I honestly think Orson Welles did a good job at the shots of the window because it’s unique. This movie is mainly about a man, Chiles Foster Kane, fragments of his life and the search of the meaning of “rosebud” which was the last word he said before he died. The reporter that was assigned to find out the meaning of “rosebud” did all sorts of research such as tracing back his life, meeting up with people that associated with Foster Kane when he was alive and reading Foster Kane’s journal. Even with all the information the reporter had gathered, he could not find out what “rosebud” meant. It was later at the ending of the movie that showed “rosebud” was the name of a sled that Kane used to play when he was young. It symbolizes the lost of his childhood innocent and love. After uttering the word “rosebud”, Kane died and a small glass with snow inside dropped out of his hand. In my opinion, it reminds Kane of the time he was taken away from his mother. It was snowing when he had to leave his poor but loving mother and live with a wealthy businessman. That point where he was “adopted” by the businessman, Kane’s life changed. He loved his life yearning for love, in “his” own terms. Quoted from Susan, his second wife’s words “Love! You don't love anybody! Me or anybody else! You want to be loved - that's all you want! I'm Charles Foster Kane. Whatever you want - just name it and it's yours! Only love me! Don't expect me to love you” It’s sad to know that all he ever wanted was what he could never get, that is just to leave a normal life with his mother and just be blessed with the love his mother could give him.
There were also a few jump cuts in the movie such as when he was growing up and on Foster Kane’s first marriage. The time frame for those events was long, but Orson Welles did some jump cuts and made it in a few minutes. There are also scenes in the movie where Foster Kane was always in a box, as if he is trapped and cannot get out of the situation or he is always bounded with things around him. One of the scenes were when he was dancing, he is always in a frame even when the dancing part was hot in another few angels. There is another part where Foster Kane was standing in front of a lot of mirrors after his second wife walk out on him. It seems like the director is trying to indirectly show the different times in Foster Kane’s life.
A Few Good Men
The movie expose the fact that in a way, our life is actually determine in another person’s hands, like in the movie, the two U.S. Marines on Gitmo life’s, who were charged with the murder of another Marine were actually in the hands of the Col Jessep and later in the hands of the jury of the court. They though they were just doing their duty because like what Dawson said. “We joined the Marines because we wanted to live our lives by a certain code, and we found it in the Corps. Now you're asking us to sign a piece of paper that says we have no honor. You're asking us to say we're not Marines. If a court decides that what we did was wrong, then I'll accept whatever punishment they give. But I believe I was right sir, I believe I did my job, and I will not dishonor myself, my unit, or the Corps so I can go home in six months... Sir.” But actually after the jury made their decision that the two of them were wrong and was still punished Dawson realized that he did made a mistake and not only follow the rules blindly but make a stand when he knows it is wrong to oppress someone weaker. At the end he said “We were supposed to fight for the people who couldn't fight for themselves. We were supposed to fight for Willie.” That shows how he finally realize and mature throughout the whole movie because at first he was determine that he was only doing the right thing. The best quote of the movie is still this statement made by Kaffee “You don't need a patch on your arm to have honor.” The ending part of the movie where Col. Jessep said “Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who’s going to do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, and you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.” made me think a little about the way I handle situations. Sometimes, I do think that I am just doing the right thing for everyone’s benefit but it is actually merely self deception of the truth that it is actually wrong in some situation even though I am only following instructions. The other thing that Col Jessep said that was quite catchy was “You can't handle the truth.” Sometimes, theses things that the character says really make you think.Tom Cruise look very smart, handsome and nerdy too in that movie wearing the suit to the court room. He did a very good acting in this movie. I still can remember the expression he made when he look around the court room at then end of the first trial. Demi Moore was quite a charmer too in the movie; she brought out the strong side of her character in the movie well. I find what Patrick said that to be quite true about the part where there is no scene in the movie than can be cut because all of the scenes are very informative. Even the scene when Galloway was on a date with Kaffee at the seafood restaurant was important to a certain extend as to show us that there might be a certain closer or more intimate relationship blooming between them but it just stop there, unlike other typical films that shows the couples sleeping with each other after just a dinner. This movie is said that we can find something new every time we watch the movie again. I am not planning to watch this movie again because I am really not interested in law movies. The reason I gave quite a lot of quotes from the movie is because the movie mainly has a lot of conversation and not much action so by quoting on the words the characters say, I can relate and write on this movie.
Amelie
This movie had a lot of narration in it. It started with the narration part where the narrator gave details on the exact day, time and place, description on the people, insects and things, and “At the same moment, a sperm with one X chromosome, belonging to Raphaël Poulain, made a dash for an egg in his wife Amandine. Nine months later, Amélie Poulain was born.” It is quite a funny way of starting a story. There were also parts in the movie where Amelie and the other characters such as Nino Quicampoix, acted by Mathieu Kassovitz looked directly into the camera and talked to it. In a way, it connects the person watching the movie to the character. There was a part where Amelie was in a cinema and she turned and looked into the camera saying that she likes to see other people’s expression when they watch a movie. The movie has a lot of animation in it that made the movie to be so unrealistic. There was a scene in the movie where Nino was talking to a photograph when he was on the bed. That is because the director of this movie, Jean-Pierre Jeunet was once an animation director. The director also did a good job in introducing the main character, in the beginning of the movie, there were at lest 10 minutes of showing the people associated with Amelie, who she likes and dislikes, the way she was brought up and her character build up from that strong foundation since the beginning of the movie. Quite a lot of Paris’s popular landscape was shown in the movie too. It is quite funny to see the expression of Amelie’s father’s face when he receives pictures of his gnome visiting places around Paris.
I believe Audrey Tauton did a good job in acting her character out as Amelie. The smile on her face, her expressions, it’s all still so clear in my mind. She made Amelie a unique character. She made the movie a one of its kind movie with the combination of the director’s good work and other things. Overall, this movie is worth watching.
The Road Home
Zhang Yiu-mou did put in some symbolic meanings in the movie too. The broken bowl symbolizes Zhao Di’s heart when Lu Changyun had to leave the village. The bowl was not thrown away but her grandmother has it repaired. The bowl meant too much for Zhao Di to be thrown away, it reminds her of her way of showing her love to Lu Changyun by cooking her best dishes and hoping that he will eat her cooking when the men were building the school. Zhang also did show the differences between the past era of China and the present one. Back then, it was bad luck for the women to go near men that are working so all they can do it to cook, bring the food to the construction area and sit to see the men work from a far. It is different now because women work too. Last time, education was hard to come by; therefore it is really a privilege when a person gets to study. In today’s era, education is given to everyone. It is often taken for granted by most people that sometimes education does not mean much to them. Education back then was something that they look forward for; going to school was an important event.
I personally like Zhao’s way of making the movie, the past in colored scene while the present in black and white. It shows that the past was even so much more beautiful and lively than the present. A lot of shots were taken at the same place too, such as the well, the bridge, the road that connects the village to the city, the school and Zhao Di’s house.
This romantic movie did made me cry in certain scenes, I was actually impress by how touching the movie is even though the closes Zhao Di and Lu Changyun could get to each other was when Lu Changyun handed Zhao Di a hair pin and said that it suits her red sweater. After the movie I could still remember the particular scene where Lu Changyun describes Zhao Di being as beautiful as a painting on the wall. It was just so lovely how the shot was taken when Zhao Di lean against the door waiting for Lu Changyun to come in. I also realized that there is a lot of close up on Zhao Di in the movie. It is good in a way as it shows the expression of Zhao Di’s face clearly.
This movie also shows how the son respected the mother’s request of bringing his father’s dead body back the traditional way, by foot. It is done so because it is believed that if the body is bring back by foot, the spirit of that body will know the way back to his home. At the ending of the movie, the son taught at the school, his father had taught before, as to respect of his father’s wished. That scene was also one of those that made me cry.
I remember turning to the person next to me right after the movie and said that I would also like to have a love life, as innocent, simple yet splendid like how Zhang Yiu-mou had portrait it to be.

Goodbye Boys
9 BOYS, 5 DAYS, 100KM. One coming of age journey...
Thumbs up for Bernard Chauly’s movie, Goodbye Boys! I LOVE THE TEAM SONG FOR THIS MOVIE (Nitrus - Hujung Dunia) Gosh! I got Bernard’s autograph too… (Thinking of framing it up :p) other than the autograph, I also got a poster, a cd, 3 postcard and a t-shirt (I’m wearing the shirt to bed tonight!!!) haha… I’m really happy I got to meet him again(the previous time I met him was at the Japanese Film Festival, he did the interview on the Japanese director, Shinohara Tetsuo) and toke his autograph this time. Darn! Come to think of it I really should have brought a camera along... Despite meeting him before the movie start, outside the cinema when he was going around greating all those people that came for the movie, he came into the cinema right before the movie started and gave a short speech. From the way he speaks, I realize that he’s a guy that has a good sense of humor! He said that if the movie is good he asked us to go tell all our friends about how good the movie is, but if we do not like the movie, he asked us to go tell all our enemies about how good the film is to cheat them. Haha… funny guy! Anyway, back to the movie, the movie Goodbye Boys have a lot of good message to send across to the audience. Some messages will actually make you “wake up” from your sleep in your walk in life. “This journey we toke was like walking through life, we all headed to the same destination but we toke different paths to reach there.” “When you are drowning, life seems so real… (I forgot the ending of the sentence already…anyone care to help me out?)” and yeah… there were many more messages in the movie but I couldn’t possibly remember all la. I got so much to talk about the movie…don’t know how to put them down in words. I felt like some of the characters are not fully developed as in their family background. But I like the way Bernard first introduce the characters to the audience. Bernard is good at placing the camera to shoot all the shots. Btw, the 8 boys did sing a lot of sings throughout their journey too. And oh! In the movie, there was one part where Xiao’s mother gave Xiao a RM20 note!!! Where in the world can you still find a RM20 note anymore??? There are lots of things more I wanna say about the movie but I rather talk than blog about it :p So, anyway,The ending part where they show what happened after a few years was really funny and good! Overall, I am really glad I watched the movie.
ps: My favorite character in the movie is still Glenn (the most handsome one)! So manly! haha... :p Although most of the characters like Wei Heen, Jin, Ivan and Leonard are cute too. (the above was updated 23/9/06)

Work on the Grass
[Synopsis: Two field workers--one experienced, the other an aspiring writer--spend spend a hot summer day cutting a vast expanse of tall grass. The two men clash hen the novice begins botching the job. Eventually, through an exchange of stories during their lunch break, the two achieve a rapprochement that has ambiguous sexual overtones.]
It’s a nice movie, with lots of close up shots and there are certain parts in the movie that was quite funny. It’s suppose to be a Japanese comedy, but we only laugh 3 times at 3 scenes, that also only when people start laughing then only we laugh (not to say that it’s not funny, but it’s just that maybe we were a bit slow in catching what the Japanese were saying in the movie) There were only 2 characters in the movie, 2 Japanese lawnmower, an experience one and the other not. The movie shows the relationship between the 2 men from the beginning of the movie, which they barely know each other until the ending of the movie that shows that they were closer and more comfortable with working and conversing with each other. There was even one part where the 2 men were so close to each other… I really though they were going to kiss. Haha... they didn’t la of course.
So after the movie was showed, it was the Q & A session. About the movie Work on the Grass, Mr. Shinohara Tetsuo said that there were other sponsors coming in for him to produce this movie, but he chooses to do it in his own funding and budget. He implied that he used to work part time jobs when he was a student and he wanted to show the experience he has gone through in this movie. After this movie, was release back in year 1993, the public started to question him, asking if he was gay. (He’s a straight guy) If he was given a choice to re-shoot the movie again, he would do it in another different way. More about Mr. Shinohara Tetsuo himself; he studied and graduated Law in a law school but had never been a lawyer before. He became an assistant director for 10 years before he became a director himself.

Zoc: [glares at crystal in hand] Curse you, rock; a curse upon your children!
Hova: I don't think rocks have children.
Zoc: [throws crystal to the ground] Well they won't *now*.

Zoc: An ant will always sacrifice himself to save another.

-
Capt. Thomas Fuller: Nice job.
Hondo: Don't sound so happy.
Capt. Thomas Fuller: Still got a problem. He's still here.
[Gestures towards Alex Montel]
Chris: Road trip?
Street: [Beaten up from the fight with Gamble] Road trip.
Hondo: Yeah...road trip. Guess you'll have to fire us later.
[Street spits blood out of his mouth, team walks away toward arriving SWAT truck with Fuller smiling at the team for once in the whole movie]
-
Hondo: Street. Don't beat him so badly I can't get a rematch, all right?
Street: I won't make any promises.
Hondo: It's my money, man.

Snakes On Plane
There’s a scene in the movie which showed the snake comes out of a guy’s mouth. After the movie, as I was walking, I saw a little girl putting the long balloon in her mouth… it freaked me out as it looks just like the scene the movie!!! But I enjoyed the movie la… haha..
Nelville Flynn: Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane!
---
Dr. Steven Price: Remember, time is tissue.
---
Nelville Flynn: How good are you at this game?
Troy: Pretty good. I mean, my brother Randy has the hi-score. Asshole never lets me hear the end of it.
---
Sean Jones: It's getting hot in here...
Nelville Flynn: I'm from Tennessee, I didn't notice!
---
Nelville Flynn: All praises to the playstation!
---
Big Leroy: Some-one get this snake off my ass.
---
Claire Miller: [to the wounded Rick] You sure you can fly this thing with one hand? Rick: Honey, you'd be surprised at what a man can do with one hand.

Lesson learned from the movie:

You will miss out a lot in life if you do not set your priorities right in life.
Appreciate every moment you have with the people you love, they do not live forever
Morty: He's always chasing the pot of gold, but when he gets there, at the end of the day, it's just corn flakes.
Morty: It's all just... cornflakes.

Michael Newman: Ben... Family... Always comes first...

Samantha at 5-Years-Old: [Sundance begins humping the stuffed Duck] Daddy, what's he doing? Michael Newman: Something you shouldn't know about for at least 10 to 30 years. [Points at son, Ben] Michael Newman: You, ten. [Points at daughter, Samantha] Michael Newman: You, thirty.

Morty: Think about it, you've skipped a year. That's a lot of sex. That's like, thirty minutes worth for you.

The Break Up
Gary: Richard did not kick my ass, what Richard did was attack me while I was half asleep. Brooke: Really? Is that how you see it? Gary: Theres a really big gap between getting your ass kicked, and having a dancing, singing sprite fool you with trickery, and then strike your throat before you know that you're even in the fight. But I wouldnt expect someone like you to understand that, because all you do is make moves from up in your ivy tower.

Sleepless in Seatle

"Destiny is something we've invented because we can't stand the fact that everything that happens is accidental. "

"People who truly loved once are far more likely to love again. "

Doctor Marcia Fieldstone: Tell me what was so special about your wife?
Sam Baldwin: Well, how long is your program? Well, it was a million tiny little things that, when you added them all up, they meant we were suppose to be together... and I knew it. I knew it the very first time I touched her. It was like coming home... only to no home I'd ever known... I was just taking her hand to help her out of a car and I knew. It was like... magic.
---
Annie Reed: Now that was when people KNEW how to be in love. They knew it! Time, distance... nothing could separate them because they knew. It was right. It was real. It was...
Becky: A movie! That's your problem! You don't want to be in love. You want to be in love in a movie.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
I would vote this movie for the Best Movie of 2006, so far! The movie’s great. I love it. Honestly, I really could not wait until the ending of the movie to sms Mei Cher and tell her that this movie is terrific! Almost excellent! There are movie scenes that are really funny... and are really able to make you laugh... not like those lame jokes or scenes that is just really… nothing but plain lame, in other movies! As I watch this movie, the director of the movie really directed this movie in a way that makes me feel very excited and there are many times that the director successfully create scenes that makes me curious and excited. I keep asking myself… “Gosh... “What’s going to happen next?” I believe that Johnny Depp does not even need to act in the 2nd movie to prove to everyone that the director of the movie did choose the perfect person to act as Jack Sparrow. Indeed, he’s a talented and experience actor that suits the character he is acting in. This movie is worth watching… even if you have to pay RM 20 for a place in the cinema to watch this movie, PAY, COZ IT’S WOTH IT! Ps: Btw, I love the ending… I do not think Jack Sparrow is dead. In my opinion, he is still alive, he’ll definitely somehow manage to survive! He’s sooo handsome: p and I am really waiting for the next episode to come on screen.

Take the Lead
My review:
The movie is a total must watch! I like the movie even though I’m not interested in musical genre movies. The story line is good, the characters dance to the beat, the dance steps were smooth and for an old man like Antonio Banderas is handsome. Antonio Banderas acted in the movie Zorro a few years back and I must confess that he’s really good at acting and experience too, after acting in about 67 movies. The dance steps and moves were cool, and I personally like the way and things he explained to the pupil’s parents about him teaching ballroom dance during detention. Dante Basco is 31 years old this year, but he’s playing the role of Ramos, one of the pupils that attend detention. I must say it would be impossible for me to know about the fact that he is that old because he makes a very good high school boy in the movie. By the way, Basco looks a bit like Brian Tee as the DK from the movie “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006).
The movie is about how this dedicated teacher decides to teach the bunch of “school rejects” in during detention class, teaches them with his heart and then pulls them to success.
This movie's storyline is similar to the movie " To Sir With Love", the only difference is that in the other movie, the teachers teach them a particular school subject, but in this movie, the detention teacher teaches the students something that's not tought in school, ballroom dancing!
One of the quote in this movie that is meaningful:
Pierre Dulaine: You can get what you want.
Rock: No, some people get what they want.
Pierre Dulaine: Those are the people who show up to get it.
Just My Luck
My Review:
If there’s just one thing that I’m allowed to say about the movie, I would say that this movie has the most cute and handsome guys in a movie. The blond guy in the band McFly is a total cutie. Lindsay Lohan looks much mush mature in the movie. In my opinion, Lohan is just the right person to act as Ashley. She just fits into the character perfectly. As a child actor Lohan is good at her acting skills. Even since she was a child she acted very well, for example in one of her earliest movie that she acted in, Disney’s The Parent Trap (1998) as Hallie Parker and Annie James at the same time.
Overall, the movie is nice. If compared to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003) aka Wie werde ich ihn los - in 10 Tagen? (Germany), director Donald Petrie did not improve much on his movie directing skills.
This movie have nice soundtracks and the McFly band is good!

Dead Poet's Society
My Reviews:
The movie was about this teacher, acted by Robbie Williams that taught the students in his class to push their abilities to the limits and move the boundary given to then by the school and their parents. He made the boys realize that they can achieve great things in life not by only studying in class, he made them think outside the box, he made them realize that they do not need to wait until they graduate from school to achieve their goals in life. He inspires his pupils, he gives them hope, and he made a difference in his student’s life, but yet, he was blamed for an incident and tragedy event that was not his fault but indirectly was linked to him and so he was expel from teaching in the school. The tragedy was when one of his student disobeyed his father because of doing something he loves, which is acting in a play and later after that committed suicide because of the pressure his parents and school put on him. This movie shows how a group of boys’ life changes because of this one very special teacher that had taught them to “seize the day!” without recreating it. Jon says that the story line is good but I think its average at first which is right after watching the whole movie, but as I come to really think of it now and flash back what I’ve seen in the movie, I have to agree with him that the story line IS in fact a good one.
8 Below
My Reviews:
The movie is based on a true story. Overall, I will also rate the movie, slightly below average. It’s not as good as I’ve expected it to be. When I bought this DVD I though that it’s a very touching story of this guy that risks his life to save his team, which is the dogs from the heavy story... but to my disappointment, the movie I saw just now was not up to my expectations.
Superman Returns
My Review:
Superman Returns was not a really nice movie to watch. In the movie, it shows that Clark Kent / Superman did some soul searching for 5 years. After 5 years, he came back from Krypton and went back to work, only to find out that his love interest; Louis Lane is already engage to another guy. She even has a cute and handsome son, which he later found out that it’s his son because the boy has super strength too. Lex Luther on the other hand, had found out Superman’s father’s graveyard and toke the crystals that was left behind for Superman. The crystals are worth a lot because it’s the key to very advance technology. In the end superman was in a coma but woke up after spending some time in the hospital. If I would have to rate Superman Returns, it would be a slight below average. In the movie, indeed it shows how strong he is, every part of his body is made of steal. There is one scene that really captured my attention, which is the part where a guy pointed a gun at Superman’s eye and shot a bullet at it. Not only did the bullet not injure this Man of Steal, the bullet just bounce out of his eye, it was squash. In this movie, Superman did a lot of flying and did show how strong he is, but I personally would like to see more action scenes. There are scenes in the movie that is also quite fake when Louis Lane was in the plane and she knock onto so many things but wasn't even hurt. In fact, none of the passangers were hurt, even when they went to outer space, the people in the aeroplane was calm and acted as though it's just a normal rough flight. The most silly part of the movie is that Louis Lane can't even reconise Clark Kent without his specticles. The only difference between Superman and Clark Kent is the voice and the specticles. As for the comedy part of the movie, the only person that played the “comedian” was Lex Luther. The actor playing Luther is just not bad enough for the character.
The Inside Man
My Reviews
The movie was not up to my expectation nor was as good as how Jon describes and said it to be. It’s basically about a bank robbery that actually in the end, did not happen at all because the robbers did not steal anything from the bank. All the robbers did was just to make all the hostages dress like them (they came in wearing painter suit) so that it’s easy for them to run away with the crowd when all the hostages were released and also to create attention of the police. The main objective behind the mastermind of the “robbery” is to review the bank’s owner dark past. The movie is mainly about the robbers conducting the successful “robbery”. The best part of the movie was when the leader of the “robbers” told the detective that he’s just going to walk out of the bank door when he is ready which he really did without getting caught.
But, when i come to think of it now, after writing the preview above, i've come to a conclusion that the story line of this movie is actually quite good and the movie is worth watching.

THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS 3: TOKYO DRIFT
I watched the movie on : 16 June 2006
My reviews:
The movie have good stuns and drifts scenes. it's a nice movie to watch if you don't take it all seriously; as in, just watch it, don't follow anything that they do in the movies. it's a 18SG movie anyway, that "warning" explains quite a lot already. the best quote that really made me think was when Han said "That's life. You make chocies and don't turn back"
I have not seen the previest 2 movies, so i can't tell you if this movie is better than the perviest 2 movies.
In my conclusion of the movie, "The winner always get the girl!"
RV
I watched the movie on : 16 June 2006
My Reviews:
If I were to rate the movie RV, it would only be a C+. It's quite funny, but I certainly think there should be more improvement. I guess this movie did not have anything much for me to comment except that there are only a few parts that is funny about the movie.

Plot Summary & Review:
the story is about this cocky, rookie race car, Lightning McQueen and he has the big big huge competition to compete with 2 other racing cars at California, On route across the country to the big Piston Cup Championship in California to compete against two seasoned pros, he somehow ended up unexpectedly detoured and crashing into the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs which was abandon for a long long time, destroying lots of the inhabitants belongings. In order to make up for what he did, the cocky roadster is sentenced to community service by Doc Hudson. Though he will do anything to get away from the work, McQueen must learn to respect and bond with the Radiator Springs inhabitants in order to get out of the town and back on the racetracks. There he discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line!!! at first he only cared about the competition, but then, when McQueen gets to know the town's offbeat characters Âincluding Sally (a snazzy 2002 Porsche voiced by Bonnie Hunt), Doc Hudson (a 1951 Hudson Hornet with a mysterious past, voiced by Paul Newman), and Mater (a rusty but trusty tow truck voiced by Larry the Cable Guy) Â who help him realize that there are more important things than trophies, fame and sponsorship. The ending part of the movie was pretty touching when McQueen rather not win the Piston Cup but did a very noble thing by helped The King finish his race after he overturn.
"Kecheng" *flashes spotlight at you* this is not just some kiddy kiddy movie(although i watched it with 80% of the cinema filled with 18 and below kids). it's a bomb i tell you. there are values in the movie that you can discover such as how important friends are in your life, realizing the beauty of life and etc. it's really a good movie worth watching. anyway.. you should take notice of the soundtrack "find yourself" by Brad Paisley in the movie. it's a very nice song. that song really made me think about my life. In conclusion, I love the movie and the soundtracks. If compared to Over The Hedge, i would say that Cars, The Movie has more good values which sometimes really make me think back what i really want in life, fame or friends. Wherelse, Over the Hedge is much more of a funny movie that makes you laugh, but not as much good points you an learn after watching the movie.
Characters:
Lightining McQueen
a hotshot rockie racecar, posised to become the youngest car ever to win the Piston Cup Championship. He has just two things in mind: winning and the perks that come with it. Fame, money, groupies, helicopters... It's everything he's dreamed of, but that's about to change. When McQueen gets lost in the forgotten town of Radiator Springs, he's introduced to a group of new friends that challenged him to reconsider the car he wants to be.

Memorable Quotes :
RJ: Ok, what we're goin' for is a crazy, man-eating, rabid squirrel. Can you handle that?
Hammy the Squirrel: Umm excuse me!
[Raises hand]
RJ: Yes, Hammy.
Hammy the Squirrel: Rabbits are all cute and cuddly soo..
RJ: RABID, not rabbit.
Hammy the Squirrel: Ohhh... huh?
--
RJ: No, Hammy, not the cookie. I told you that cookie was junk!
Hammy the Squirrel: But I like the cookie.
--
RJ: That is an S.U.V. humans ride in them because they are slowly loosing their ability to walk.
Lew the Porcupine: Wow it's huge!
Hammy the Squirrel: How many people fit in there?
RJ: Usually,..one.
--
Hammy the Squirrel: Wanna help me find my nuts?
RJ: Very tempting, Hammy, very tempting..
--
Dwayne: [after shooting the head off a plastic flamingo] Arrrgh! Not again! Those things are so lifelike! Curse you, plastic moldsmen.
--
Hammy the Squirrel: I am a crazy, rabid squirrel! I want my cookies!
--
Ozzie: Mother, is that you? Beckoning me into the light? Must... move... toward... the light!
--
RJ: [Lays down some Monopoly play pieces] Okay, this is us.
Hammy the Squirrel: Can I be the car?
Bucky: I wanna be the car!
Spike: I'm the car. You be the shoe.
Bucky: The shoe is lame.
Lou: Why don't you be that snazzy-looking iron there?
RJ: Hey! It's not important. Besides, I'm the car. I'm always the car.
--
Ozzie: I thought you were dead.
Heather: I learned from the best.
Ozzie: That's my girl.
--
Dwayne: I believe someone phoned about an animal problem? The solution is standing before you. Dwayne LaFontaine is here.
Gladys: Where have you been? I am throwing a Welcome to the Neighborhood party tomorrow, and so far, Debbie's car has killed more animals than you have.
Dwayne: Stand down, sister. I personally guaranty that there won't be a living thing at this party. The Verminator is on the job.
--
Verne: I thought we'd be dead by step two, so this is going great.
--
Hammy the Squirrel: [Runs to one end of the hedge] It never ends! [Runs to the other end and back]
Hammy the Squirrel: It never ends that way, too.
--
Hammy the Squirrel: [meekly] But I like the cookie!
--
Stella: Don't even ask about the cork!
--
Tiger: Stella? Stella? Where are you going? Stella? STEEEELLLLLLAAAAAAA!
--
RJ: That's a diaper, and that DOES come out of a wazoo.
--
Stella: You mean you don't mind the smell?
Tiger: This face was bred for Beauty. I cannot smell a thing.
--
RJ: They ALWAYS got food with them. We eat to live - these guys live to eat! Let me show you what I'm talking about! The human mouth is called a 'piehole', the human being is called a 'couch potato'. THAT is a device to summon food. That is one of the many voices of food. THAT is the portal for the passing of food. THAT is one of the many food transportation vehicles. Humans bring the food, take the food, ship the food, they DRIVE food, they WEAR the food! THAT gets the food hot! THAT keeps the food cold! That, I'm not sure what that is. Well, what do you know? FOOD! THAT is the altar where they WORSHIP food! That's what they eat when they've eaten TOO MUCH food! THAT gets rid of the guilt so they can eat MORE FOOD! FOOD! FOOD! FOOD! FOOD! FOOOOOD! So, you think they have enough? Well, they don't. For humans, enough is NEVER enough! And what do they do with the stuff they don't eat? They put it in gleaming silver cans, just for us! Dig in!
--
Hammy the Squirrel: I've had dirt, I don't like dirt, it tastes like dirt!
--
Verne: We want NOTHING, to do with ANYTHING, that's OVER THAT HEDGE!
--
Ozzie: I really thought you were dead!
Heather: I learned from the best.
--
Hammy the Squirrel: [points angrily to his reflection in a car fender] THIS guy's not comin' with us, is he? 'Cause i dont want him to!
RJ: Oh, I have so much work to do
--
Ozzie: Playing Possum is what we do. We die, so we live.
--
Porcupine Children: [driving a van] It's just like Auto Homicide 3!
--
Stella: I got makeup on my butt, dude!
--
Tiger: Stop! No one has ever spoken to me like that!
[beat]
Tiger: It is bold. I like it!

Plot Summary & Review:
Just whose backyard is it, anyway?
Spring has sprung, and Verne and his woodland friends awaken from their long winter's nap to discover that a tall, green "thing" has mysteriously cropped up right through the middle of their home. Enter RJ, an opportunistic raccoon, who explains that the world beyond the hedge is the "gateway to the good life" where peculiar creatures called humans live to eat, rather than eat to live.Suspicious and even a little jealous of RJ, the ever-cautious Verne wants to keep his blended family safely on their side of the hedge. But, proving the adage that one man's garbage is another man's—or rather animal's—treasure, the manipulative RJ tries to convince the woodland band that there is little to fear and everything to gain from their over-indulgent new neighbors. Eventually, RJ and Verne form an unlikely friendship as they learn to co-exist with—and even exploit—this strange new world called suburbia.
