Take the Lead

I watch the movie on : 6/7/06

My review:
The movie is a total must watch! I like the movie even though I’m not interested in musical genre movies. The story line is good, the characters dance to the beat, the dance steps were smooth and for an old man like Antonio Banderas is handsome. Antonio Banderas acted in the movie Zorro a few years back and I must confess that he’s really good at acting and experience too, after acting in about 67 movies. The dance steps and moves were cool, and I personally like the way and things he explained to the pupil’s parents about him teaching ballroom dance during detention. Dante Basco is 31 years old this year, but he’s playing the role of Ramos, one of the pupils that attend detention. I must say it would be impossible for me to know about the fact that he is that old because he makes a very good high school boy in the movie. By the way, Basco looks a bit like Brian Tee as the DK from the movie “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006).

The movie is about how this dedicated teacher decides to teach the bunch of “school rejects” in during detention class, teaches them with his heart and then pulls them to success.

This movie's storyline is similar to the movie " To Sir With Love", the only difference is that in the other movie, the teachers teach them a particular school subject, but in this movie, the detention teacher teaches the students something that's not tought in school, ballroom dancing!

One of the quote in this movie that is meaningful:
Pierre Dulaine: You can get what you want.
Rock: No, some people get what they want.
Pierre Dulaine: Those are the people who show up to get it.
