Goodbye Boys
9 BOYS, 5 DAYS, 100KM. One coming of age journey...
Thumbs up for Bernard Chauly’s movie, Goodbye Boys! I LOVE THE TEAM SONG FOR THIS MOVIE (Nitrus - Hujung Dunia) Gosh! I got Bernard’s autograph too… (Thinking of framing it up :p) other than the autograph, I also got a poster, a cd, 3 postcard and a t-shirt (I’m wearing the shirt to bed tonight!!!) haha… I’m really happy I got to meet him again(the previous time I met him was at the Japanese Film Festival, he did the interview on the Japanese director, Shinohara Tetsuo) and toke his autograph this time. Darn! Come to think of it I really should have brought a camera along... Despite meeting him before the movie start, outside the cinema when he was going around greating all those people that came for the movie, he came into the cinema right before the movie started and gave a short speech. From the way he speaks, I realize that he’s a guy that has a good sense of humor! He said that if the movie is good he asked us to go tell all our friends about how good the movie is, but if we do not like the movie, he asked us to go tell all our enemies about how good the film is to cheat them. Haha… funny guy! Anyway, back to the movie, the movie Goodbye Boys have a lot of good message to send across to the audience. Some messages will actually make you “wake up” from your sleep in your walk in life. “This journey we toke was like walking through life, we all headed to the same destination but we toke different paths to reach there.” “When you are drowning, life seems so real… (I forgot the ending of the sentence already…anyone care to help me out?)” and yeah… there were many more messages in the movie but I couldn’t possibly remember all la. I got so much to talk about the movie…don’t know how to put them down in words. I felt like some of the characters are not fully developed as in their family background. But I like the way Bernard first introduce the characters to the audience. Bernard is good at placing the camera to shoot all the shots. Btw, the 8 boys did sing a lot of sings throughout their journey too. And oh! In the movie, there was one part where Xiao’s mother gave Xiao a RM20 note!!! Where in the world can you still find a RM20 note anymore??? There are lots of things more I wanna say about the movie but I rather talk than blog about it :p So, anyway,The ending part where they show what happened after a few years was really funny and good! Overall, I am really glad I watched the movie.
ps: My favorite character in the movie is still Glenn (the most handsome one)! So manly! haha... :p Although most of the characters like Wei Heen, Jin, Ivan and Leonard are cute too. (the above was updated 23/9/06)
